About the Role: The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients on veterinary procedures, and assists with surgeries. Preferred skills include: dental prophylaxis, anesthesia monitoring, dental radiographs, intubation, extubation, IVC placement, and venipuncture.

Hours of Operation:

• Mon–Fri: 8 a.m – 12 p.m & 2 p.m – 6 p.m
• Wed: 8 a.m – 1 p.m & 2 p.m – 5 p.m
• Sat: 8 a.m – 1 p.m

Pay: $19 - $22 DOE

Responsibilities:

• Assist in veterinary medicine and surgery
• Support outpatient exams and client education
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs
• Collect samples and perform laboratory tests
• Take and develop radiographs
• Handle and restrain animals
• Administer medications and treatments
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities
• Provide compassionate client and patient interactions
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Weekend availability
• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently, more with assistance
• Practice OSHA safety protocols
• Basic math and medication calculation skills
• Basic computer proficiency
• Strong communication skills
