VCA Firehouse seeking an amazing Veterinary Assistant Apprentice to join our team. We are located in the beautiful Capitol Hill neighbor of Denver, right off of 6th Ave.
The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.
The candidate will be part of the Veterinary Assistant on the Job Training and accredited technical school coursework. The candidate is expected to have attended at least two semesters of courses. Upon Externship (OJT training) credential completion and passing the State Licensing exam, the Apprentice will graduate with a Certified Veterinary Assistant credential and be eligible to apply for an advanced position.
In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Duties will include:
• Maintaining medical records.
• Collecting a history, TPR and assisting in exam rooms.
• Client education
• Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients.
• Filling prescriptions.
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets.

Pay range: $18.81 - $20.00 based on experience.
