Job summary

Alamogordo Animal Hospital in Alamogordo, NM is seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our busy 3-doctor practice open 7 days a week.

We are open to both part-time and full-time applicants; new graduates encouraged to apply. Typical duties include assisting with exams and history taking, blood draws, radiology, labs, surgeries, dental work, and cross-training to reception duties.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Safely restrain and examine pets.
• Take thorough medical histories.
• Perform basic exams and monitor TPRs.
• Draw blood from cephalic, saphenous, jugular.
• Assist with radiology and laboratory work.
• Support surgery and anesthesia.
• Perform basic dental procedures.
• Dispense medications per doctor orders.
• Cross-train to reception duties.

Job description

Alamogordo Animal Hospital is looking for experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our team! We are a busy 3-doctor practice that is open 7 days a week to serve the community. We are open to both Part-time and Full-time applicants! _ New graduates encouraged to apply! _

• Salary: Starting at $15 / hour and up, depending on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.
• Schedule: Full-time, 4 -10s schedule. Must be willing to work alternating weekends.
• Location: 519 E Canal St, Alamogordo, NM 88310

Who We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player. Previous veterinary clinical experience required

• Ability to safely handle and restrain pets for examination and treatment
• Experience obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
• Comfortable performing basic exams and TPRs
• Skilled in blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to cross-train to other areas of the hospital including reception duties
• Diagnostic digital radiology including positioning
• Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology; IDEXX, Sedivue
• Experienced in assisting with surgery and anesthesia (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique, post-operative care, etc.).
• Ability to perform basic dental procedures such as cleaning, polishing and charting
• Knowledge of common medications and how to dispense per doctor orders
