Base pay range

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Company Description

Pet Medical Center of Westerville is an established small animal hospital with a growing clientele. We are AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited who has been providing compassionate veterinary pet care to Westerville and its surrounding communities since 1978.

We are looking for a friendly, energetic, positive and motivated experienced veterinary assistant with a passion for pets and people to join our team. Candidates must have experience working as a veterinary assistant.

Role Description

This is a 33-38 hour work week

Schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Every other Saturday

No Wednesdays, Sundays or Holidays

• Assist DVMs with appointments
• Educate clients
• Maintain the flow of appointments
• Fill medications and aid in the demonstration of proper administration to client
• Perform toe nail trims and anal gland expressions
• Develop relationships with clients
• Review medical records, treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients
• Prep patients for surgery and minor procedures, assist in surgeries, and proactively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
• Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
• Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and note any changes in patient’s condition to DVM
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
• Care and maintenance of all medical equipment
• High quality client communication on patient updates and questions

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• Client Education and Customer Service Skills
• Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
• Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment, and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
