Vet Assistant

Job Description

The base hourly range for this full-time position is $20.00-$25.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The veterinary assistant is the primary support for the entire team. Every department relies on their role in aiding various services to ensure excellent client and patient care.

Schedule: Monday-Saturday

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with patient care and treatment
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care
  • Maintain inventory and stock supplies
  • Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
  • Assist with routine diagnostic tests (e.g., radiographs, bloodwork, fecal analysis)
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
  • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas
  • Administer medications under veterinarian or vet tech supervision
  • Provide customer service and help clients with their pets
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Self-starter, able to multitask, and a team player
  • Genuine love for working with animals and ability to handle stressed, ill, or in-pain animals
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals (up to 40 lbs., with assistance)
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and work in bent or squatting positions
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members
