Job summary

VCA Allenwood Animal Hospital in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will support veterinary technicians with patient care, exams, and routine procedures while delivering compassionate client service.

Responsibilities include handling medications, preparing for surgery, assisting during imaging, collecting lab samples, maintaining medical records, and contributing to a positive, low-stress hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Compassionate patient care
• Clear communication with clients and team
• Ability to assist with medications and recordkeeping
• Experience with lab sample handling is a plus
• Familiarity with imaging and dental procedures is helpful
• Assist in surgical prep and intraoperative support
• Monitor anesthesia under supervision
• Support dental procedures and charting
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation

Responsibilities

• Support veterinary technicians with patient care and exams
• Assist during procedures and in hospital rounds
• Prepare medications and manage inventory for daily ops
• Collect and process lab samples for testing
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and patient positioning

The salary range for this position is $18-$25/ hour
