Job summary

Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our skilled team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. You will help ensure each animal receives the best care during its stay and support clients with compassionate service.

We offer competitive benefits and a 4-day work week with shifts Monday–Friday 7:45 AM–5:30 PM and alternate Saturdays 7:45 AM–12:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Previous animal care experience in a veterinary setting.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
• Comfort with basic lab tasks and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgeries.
• Maintain clean and organized exam and surgical areas.
• Perform basic labs and collect samples (blood, urine, stool).
• Administer medications under supervision and monitor patients.
• Communicate with pet owners about care plans and follow-ups.

Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during its stay with us. Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This position offers a 4-day work week, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
