About Us:At Southern Veterinary Center, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care to pets and their families. Our team of skilled veterinarians and staff work together to ensure that every animal receives the highest standard of medical care in a friendly and supportive environment. We are currently looking to hire a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Job Description:As a Veterinary Assistant, you are responsible for maintaining a good workflow in the hospital by assisting the veterinarians and technicians during procedures and appointments, and keeping the hospital clean.

Responsibilities:.

  • Keep surfaces, floors, and rooms clean and stocked.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage client inquiries.
  • Help the veterinarians in appointments.
  • Process client payments and provide receipts
  • Maintain patient files and update client information.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Assist with client education on pet care and procedures.
  • Process and manage client forms (e.g., consent forms, medical histories)
  • Draw blood and run lab samples.
  • Administer injections, perform nail trims/anal sac expressions, and minor treatments directed by technicians or veterinarians.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal care facility, or customer service role preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, veterinary software systems).
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A love for animals and a compassionate attitude towards their care.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work some Saturdays.
