Companion Animal Medical Center in Shreveport, LA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. You will assist with triage, lab work, imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care for hospital cases, while communicating treatment plans to clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Must be compassionate, calm, a team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Proficient in restraint of pets and able to assist with lab work and radiographs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with triage, lab sample collection and analysis.
• Support diagnostic imaging, anesthesia monitoring and surgical prep/assistance.
• Provide nursing care and manage hospitalized cases; communicate treatment plans to clients.

Companion Animal Medical Center is a trusted veterinary practice located in Shreveport, LA, proudly serving the surrounding areas. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience required
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
