Job description

Shoreline Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help create exceptional experiences for clients and patients during exams and outpatient visits.

We are seeking an outgoing veterinary assistant who thrives in client engagement, schedule coordination, and multitasking. In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting efficient hospital operations, creating positive client experiences, and ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both the veterinary team and clients throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
  • Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately

Schedule And Compensation

  • Compensation: $21-23 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Monday-Saturday, with Saturdays being rotated.

Minimum Qualifications And Skill Set

  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
    • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
    • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
    • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
    • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
    • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service

We are a dynamic, three-doctor, small animal hospital that does routine soft-tissue surgery, dentals, and preventative care, while also seeing urgent cases as needed. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
