Job summary

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, loves pets, and can work well with a supportive team. The hourly pay range starts at $22.00 - $28.00 per hour; this varies by experience, education, certifications, and location.

An additional $250 sign-on bonus is offered. CE support, uniform allowance, and license reimbursement are provided.

Qualifications

• 3+ years clinical experience as a veterinary assistant or receptionist.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Excellent client communication and organizational skills.
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Experience with venipuncture.
• Able to perform digital radiology including positioning.
• Comfortable with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assistance.
• Laboratory skills including microscope cytology IDEXX.
• Adaptable to working well with doctors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Perform basic exam procedures.
• Venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, jugular).
• Operate digital radiology and position for X-rays.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist during surgery.
• Laboratory work including microscope cytology (ear and fecal).
• Provide excellent client communication and education.
• Adapt to working with current doctors and team members.
