Job summary

East San Rafael Veterinary Clinic in San Rafael, CA is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. You will provide end-to-end care for our patients, assist with outpatient treatments, and help with client communication and records.

Starting pay ranges from $24 to $28 per hour and will reflect experience and credentials. We offer growth opportunities, continuing education, and a supportive team in a busy, pet-centered hospital.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required.
  • Licensing as a Veterinary Technician preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and injections (IV, IM, SQ).
  • Experience monitoring anesthesia and related equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and care for animals, including pre/post operative care.
  • Create and present financial options and estimates for clients.
  • Enter service charges accurately into the client database.
  • Interact with clients to ensure excellent service.
  • Prepare medications and assist as needed.

Veterinary Assistant

Full-time

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $24 – $28 / hour. The final pay will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About You

You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Qualifications:
  • Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment
  • Team player
  • Eager to learn and is self-motivated
  • Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills (email, uploading/downloading files, typing, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Handling and caring for animals, including pre and post operative care
  • Creating and presenting financial options and estimates
  • Accurately entering service charges into the client processing database
  • Extensive interaction with clients to ensure excellent service
  • Preparing medications and assisting as needed
