Job summary

UrgentPaws LLC is launching an exciting Veterinary Assistant role with a patient‑centric focus. The position supports clients from arrival to discharge, with an online booking and walk‑in model designed to streamline care.

You will assist with radiology, lab work, and nursing tasks while helping maintain clean, organized exam rooms. We offer a non-traditional afternoon/evening schedule and a collaborative team culture that empowers each other as cases come through the clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and techniques.
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint.
• Ability to collect and process lab samples for analysis (e.g., blood, urine).
• Willingness to contribute to a collaborative clinic team.
• Strong communication skills with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Greet, educate and support clients from arrival to discharge, and facilitate financial transactions in the exam room
• Obtain vital signs and comprehensive medical histories for patients
• Assist with animal handling, administration of medications and nursing care
• Take and process diagnostic radiographs (X-rays)
• Collect and process lab samples for analysis (e.g., blood, urine, feces)
• Maintain accurate patient records and medication logs
• Ensure all equipment is operating, maintained and sterilized
• Keep the clinic clean and organized
• Support the veterinarian and RVTs to provide efficient, high-quality patient care

Key Responsibilities and Clinical Duties

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records including histories, treatments, and medication logs
• Ensure that all equipment is properly operating, maintained and sterilized
• Keep the clinic clean and organized
• Support the veterinarian and RVTs to provide efficient, high-quality patient care

Required Qualifications and Desired Skillsets

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the veterinary profession
• Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal careBasic knowledge of veterinary medical and surgical terminology and techniques
