UrgentPaws LLC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our new urgent care team in Duarte, CA. The role supports clients and patients through exams, procedures, and aftercare within an online booking and walk-in model.

We value a collaborative, compassionate team and offer a non-traditional schedule of afternoons and evenings to help pets recover with high-quality care and expedient service for their owners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the veterinary profession.
• Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and techniques.
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint.
• Willingness to foster a collaborative work environment with all teammates.
• Disciplined mindset with eagerness to participate on the clinic floor.
• Friendly, proactive and helpful personality.
• Mature communication skills with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Greet, educate and support clients from arrival to discharge, and facilitate financial transactions in the exam room.
• Obtain vital signs and comprehensive medical histories for patients.
• Assist with animal handling, medication administration and nursing care.
• Take and process diagnostic radiographs (X-rays).
• Collect and process lab samples for analysis (e.g., blood, urine, feces).
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records including histories, treatments, and medication logs.
• Ensure all equipment is properly operating, maintained and sterilized.
• Keep the clinic clean and organized.
• Support the veterinarian and RVTs to provide efficient, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities and Clinical Duties

• Support the veterinarian and RVTs to provide efficient, high-quality patient care

Required Qualifications and Desired Skillsets
