Job summary

Riverside Veterinary Clinic in Radford, VA is hiring a licensed veterinary technician to join our collaborative team. The role includes triage, lab work, imaging, nursing care, medication administration and anesthesia support.

You will communicate treatment plans to clients and contribute to a supportive, educational work environment with opportunities for hands-on and virtual training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience preferred in an exam room.
• Compassionate and calm team player with good communication.
• Ability to properly restrain pets and assist with labs and imaging.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect and analyze lab samples.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and surgical preparation.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist with anesthesia management as needed.

Our hours of operation are:

• Monday & Friday: 7:30am - 10:00pm


• Tuesday - Thursday: 7:30am - 6:00pm


• Saturday: 7:30am - 1:30pm


• We are closed on Sundays

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Exam Room Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.


• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator


• Must be able to properly restrain pets.


• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!


• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Pay Range:$14-$17/hr
