Job description

The Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) by Ethos Veterinary Health in Racine, WI is hiring a full- time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team!

Schedule and Compensation:

  • Second shift - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and every other weekend.
    • Flexibility in scheduling availability is highly preferred as there is potential for variations in shift days and times based on hospital needs.
  • Starting at $20-25/hr
  • Earn an additional $3 an hour for 2nd shift

Essential Functions:

Multi-tasking and attention to detail skills are required. Must have the ability to stand for much of the work period and enough stamina to work past the regularly scheduled shifts, if needed.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Organize the next day’s appointments to include reading medical records to acquire proper information.
    • Accurately enter notes into medical records.
    • Client Communications, which may include Relaying blood work results to clients and doctor recommendations as appropriate.
  • Patient care
    • Laundry & cleaning, stocking treatment areas
    • Advocate for patient care
    • Taking patients outside and feeding patients
    • Assist with procedures
    • Restraining patients for exams, treatments or procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a Veterinary Hospital setting is required.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required
  • Maintain a positive outlook and ability to contribute in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected
  • Strong Technical skills including phlebotomy, medication calculations, and radiology positioning.
