Job summary

Poulsbo Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help create exceptional experiences for clients and patients during exams and outpatient visits.

We are an AAHA-accredited, 3-doctor small animal practice offering a dynamic environment with a full in-house pharmacy, laboratory, surgery suite and dental facilities. Compensation ranges from $19 to $21 per hour, with a 4/10 schedule and Monday–Friday availability.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary assistant experience preferred
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments and outpatient procedures
• Experience collecting patient histories and vital signs
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and documentation
• Compassionate, professional client and team communication
• Team-oriented, able to lift and restrain patients as needed

We are seeking an outgoing veterinary assistant who thrives in client engagement, schedule coordination, and multitasking. In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting efficient hospital operations, creating positive client experiences, and ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both the veterinary team and clients throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
• Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately

Schedule and compensation:

• Compensation: $19-21per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a flexible position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday .

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

• 1+years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
