Job summary

Court Street Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will support veterinarians and the medical team in delivering high-quality patient care, with a focus on compassionate client service.

Responsibilities include assisting during exams, preparing medications and vaccines, preparing patients for surgery, anesthesia support, radiographs, and maintaining a clean, organized hospital. Strong teamwork and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment are essential.

  • Strong skills in active listening, critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Professional, courteous, and respectful toward clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality care to all patients.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinarians, colleagues, and clients.
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, including safe and effective pet restraint.
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving surgical sites and assisting with IV catheter placement.
  • Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery to ensure patient safety.
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs using proper positioning and safety techniques.
  • Collect, prepare, and label laboratory samples for testing.
  • Fill prescriptions accurately, including measuring and labeling medications.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth hospital operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Compensation: $18.00-25 an hour, based on experience.

Job Summary
The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians and the medical team in delivering exceptional patient care.
