Qualifications

Job description

Are you an experienced veterinary assistant eager to learn new skills?

Animal Eye Care is a well-established veterinary ophthalmology specialty practice in Fremont and Pleasanton. We are in search of a full-time, experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Pay: $23 - 28 per hour based on experience

Schedule: 8am - 6:30pm Monday/Friday in Pleasanton, 6:30am - 5pm Wednesday/Thursday in Fremont. Four 10-hour shifts per week. No weekends required.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant in a general practice or mobile veterinary clinic
  • Previous experience in a specialty or ophthalmology veterinary practice preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Certified Veterinary Assistant education preferred
  • Comfortable handling and safely restraining cats and dogs in front of clients
  • Skilled in blood draws, IV catheterization, and basic ocular diagnostic testing
  • Technology savvy and able to adapt to different veterinary practice software systems
  • Strive to provide every client with compassion and care
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic

Responsibilities:

  • Performing or assisting with diagnostic testing (Schirmer Tear Testing, Tonometry, Ocular Ultrasounds, Electroretinogram testing, etc.)
  • Assisting with ocular exams
  • Client communication and education
  • Carrying out tasks as requested by the veterinarians
  • Obtaining vitals
  • Collecting lab samples
  • Performing basic lab work
  • IV catheter placement and preoperative testing
  • Assisting in eyelid mass removal procedures
  • Performing ERG procedures
  • General patient care
