Job description

St. Bernard's Animal Hospital is seeking an energetic professional to join our fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital. We aim to provide the highest standard of care to every client and patient. Our hospital features a fully equipped surgical suite, digital radiology, digital dental radiology, cold laser therapy, acupuncture, and an in-house diagnostic laboratory. Due to our client-centered approach, this role requires a commitment to providing exceptional care to both patients and clients. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. Flexibility to work varied hours and weekends is essential. We seek service-minded individuals with knowledge of small animal medicine and emergencies.

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to support our team in delivering outstanding care. You will work alongside skilled Vet Assistants, assisting Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in daily operations. Position Skills:
  • Assist DVMs and veterinary technicians with appointments, patient prep for surgery and procedures, surgical assisting, and setup for diagnostics
  • Restrain animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately
  • Obtain vital signs, medical histories, and note changes in patient conditions
  • Collect and prepare lab samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
  • Maintain medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, and anesthesia equipment
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient updates and questions
Position Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, ability to handle stressful situations, and team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
