East Beach Veterinary Care is an animal veterinary care facility located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are a full-service animal hospital providing veterinary care to dogs and cats and offer services such as routine medical, surgical, and dental care. We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing hospital to provide exceptional care to our patients! You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital. Position Skills:

  • Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner utilizing low stress handling techniques
  • Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
  • Care and maintenance of all medical equipment necessary to daily operations
  • High quality client communication on a variety of topics, including preventative care recommendations, medical recommendations, and patient updates

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling
  • Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Pay range of $16.00-$18.00/hour based on experience
