Job summary

Eltingville Veterinary Practice in New York is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will assist veterinarians, handle patients, and maintain a clean clinical environment.

We welcome caring individuals who love animals, have good communication, and can multitask in a busy clinic; full-time or part-time with some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience in a veterinary or animal care setting preferred; training available.
• Genuine love for animals with a calm, patient demeanor.

• Availability for full-time or part-time hours, including some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, procedures, and surgeries
• Restrain and handle patients in a safe, calm, and compassionate manner
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the supervising veterinarian
• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood draws, urinalysis, cytology, etc.)
• Communicate with clients regarding appointments, discharge instructions, and general pet care
• Maintain accurate medical records in the practice management system
• Support front-of-house staff with check-in/check-out as needed
