Overview


Shiloh Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a full-time Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team!


Location: 1005 Lichtin Blvd, Morrisville NC, 27560


Shift Details: Full time (30+ hours a week). We are open Monday - Friday 7:30am - 6:30pm, Saturday 8am - 12pm, and closed on Sunday. Rotational Saturdays required.


Compensation: $16 - $18


Must have previous animal experience.

Our veterinarians provide comprehensive care by combining modern conventional medicine with traditional Eastern medicine, tailoring treatments to each pet's needs. We focus on treating the whole pet, emphasizing disease prevention and health maintenance.


Job Summary:


The Veterinary Assistant will assist with appointments, client education, pet restraint during exams, billing, patient care, and other tasks as needed. This role requires flexibility, a commitment to quality care, and emotional intelligence. The assistant also provides medical care within the scope of the veterinary practice act.

Responsibilities


How you'll make an impact:


  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission of MVP.
  • Assist with daily clinic duties.
  • Participate in cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Provide client care, including scheduling, payments, and check-ins.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.
  • Accurately record medical and client information.
  • Review medical records, estimates, and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer phones courteously and informatively.
  • Provide patient care under veterinarian supervision.
  • Perform clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
  • Management experience preferred (2+ years).
  • Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Patience and composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle medical crises calmly and efficiently.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, math, and communication skills in English.
  • Confidence around pets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Endurance to sit, stand, and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments with animal sounds and equipment.
  • Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications.
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills for hospital duties.
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination.
