Job summary

Moreland Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional client and patient experiences across hospital care. This versatile role spans patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

You will assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgeries, and dentistry, handle patients safely, prepare treatment areas, monitor anesthesia, and maintain medical records with care.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes.
• Experience with radiology, phlebotomy, injections, lab sample collection, and inpatient nursing care.
• Experience with surgical preparation, aseptic technique, and assisting during surgical procedures.
• Accurate medical record documentation with attention to detail and hospital protocols.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication, professionalism, and commitment to patient care and client service.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will take an active role in:

Schedule And Compensation

• Compensation: $18-23 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a flexible, full-time position, with a 5/8 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday. No Weekends!

Minimum Qualifications And Skill Set

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Proficiency in radiology, phlebotomy, SQ injections, laboratory sample collection, inpatient nursing care, and obtaining patient histories, weights, and vital signs
  • Experience with surgical preparation, aseptic technique, and assisting during surgical procedures
  • Accurate medical record documentation with strong attention to detail and adherence to hospital protocols
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and a commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
