Job summary

Mebane Veterinary Hospital in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

You will handle histories, exams, vaccines, medications, and patient care with compassion, collaborating with a friendly, goal-oriented staff in a busy, supportive clinic.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant role is required.
  • Safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members.
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred.
  • Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining patient histories and assisting veterinarians during exams and treatments.
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
  • Collecting blood and urine samples, placing IV catheters, and running in-house laboratory diagnostics.
  • Administering vaccines and medications under the direction of our veterinarians.
  • Filling prescriptions and supporting accurate medication management.
  • Assisting with radiographs and supporting diagnostic workflows.
  • Assisting with drop-off and hospitalized patient care throughout the day.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Reviewing treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
  • Keeping treatment areas stocked, clean, and running smoothly throughout the shift.
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.

Mebane Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $17.00 – $20.00per hour, for each hour worked
  • Schedule: This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, Monday–Friday between 7:30 AM–5:00 PM. No weekends and no on-call requirements.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 1+years of experience in a veterinary assistant role is required
  • Proficiency in the following skills is required:

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Pay Range
