McDonough Animal Hospital in McDonough, GA is seeking a friendly Veterinary Assistant to join our busy two-doctor practice. Daily duties include client interaction, pet care, lab tasks, radiographs, and assisting doctors with procedures.

The role offers weekend rotation roughly every 4–6 weeks, 3–4 days per week, with start around 7:45am and a close around 6–6:30pm; compensation starts at $15–$17 per hour and benefits apply after eligibility.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Veterinary Assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker, and strong communicator.
• Must be able to safely restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Proficiency in Avimark and IDEXX machines preferred.
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skill set.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients and their pets.
• Assist doctors and support staff with daily tasks.
• Clean and maintain examination rooms and kennels.
• Record keeping and inventory management.
• Will be cross-trained to reception; weekend kennel hours rotating.

We are a busy 2-doctor hospital that operates Monday through Friday. Our team is small and values integrity, compassion and teamwork, and we are looking for someone who holds a similar moral compass. Together, the doctors and support team are dedicated to the well being of pets and the people who care for them by using clear communication skills to educate and discuss best practices and outcomes in an approachable way.

Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in our hospital, the foundation of which includes afriendly attitudeand a self starting mindset. Some of the daily tasks are interacting with clients and their pets, cleaning, running diagnostic equipment, assisting the doctors, record keeping, and putting away inventory. We are looking for a punctual, friendly, compassionate person to help round out our team.

This position will be cross-trained to help reception, and have rotating kennel hours on some weekends - typically every 4-6 weeks.

The schedule for this position is still being crafted, but will be 3 or 4 days per week, a total of 30-36 hours. General start time is 7:45am and end time is 6-6:30pm. Wednesday nights until 8pm are required.

Pay Range: Starting at $15-$17/hr
