McDonough Animal Hospital in McDonough, GA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a busy two-doctor team. You will interact with clients and their pets, assist doctors, and help with record keeping and inventory.

The schedule includes 3–4 days per week, 30–36 hours, with occasional weekend kennel hours and early starts. The ideal candidate has 1+ year of veterinary experience and demonstrates compassion, calmness, teamwork, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator.
• Must be able to safely and calmly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Proficiency in Avimark and IDEXX machines preferred.
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skill set.

Responsibilities

• Interacting with clients and their pets to gather health information and educate care plans.
• Cleaning, running diagnostic equipment, and assisting doctors during exams.
• Record keeping and putting away inventory to maintain organization.
• Cross-training to help reception and occasional kennel duties on weekends.

We are a busy 2-doctor hospital that operates Monday through Friday. Our team is small and values integrity, compassion and teamwork, and we are looking for someone who holds a similar moral compass. Together, the doctors and support team are dedicated to the well being of pets and the people who care for them by using clear communication skills to educate and discuss best practices and outcomes in an approachable way.

Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in our hospital, the foundation of which includes afriendly attitudeand a self starting mindset. Some of the daily tasks are interacting with clients and their pets, cleaning, running diagnostic equipment, assisting the doctors, record keeping, and putting away inventory. We are looking for a punctual, friendly, compassionate person to help round out our team.

This position will be cross-trained to help reception, and have rotating kennel hours on some weekends - typically every 4-6 weeks.

The schedule for this position is still being crafted, but will be 3 or 4 days per week, a total of 30-36 hours. General start time is 7:45am and end time is 6-6:30pm. Wednesday nights until 8pm are required.

Additional Information

Pay Range: Starting at $15-$17/hr
