Job summary

Central Hospital for Animals in Marion, IL is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our AAHA-accredited practice. You will restrain patients, triage, collect lab samples, perform diagnostic imaging, and assist with medical and hospitalized care while communicating treatment plans to clients.

Preferred candidates have 1+ year experience and can restrain pets; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus. We offer comprehensive benefits and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Veterinary Assistant experience preferred.
• Able to restrain pets safely.
• Proficient in collection of history, lab samples, radiographs; anesthesia monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care to medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia monitoring.

We are an AAHA-accredited practice that has provided high-quality service to southern Illinois for over forty-five years. Central Hospital for Animal specializes in dentistry, preventative care, reproductive medicine, and exotic pets. We host a full-service grooming salon where we provide anything from nail clipping to custom brush-outs and styling.

Our facility is stocked with the latest innovations in animal health so we can deliver full laboratory and pharmacy service in-house. Our parent hospital is the leading referral site for orthopedic and joint repair, along with more involved surgeries; this enables us to get our clients the help they need efficiently. Central Hospital for Animals performs everything with the goal of giving the pets of Marion happy, healthy lives!

Our hours of operation are:

• Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm
• Must be availableto work some Saturdays 8am-12pm

Full-time and Part-time positions available

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring preferred butare a bonus!
