Long Beach Animal Emergency is looking for a Veterinary Assistant with experience in assisting doctors to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Serve as the liaison between doctors, clients, and patients
• Organize and track patient diagnostics
• Coordinate hospitalized patient treatment
• Prepare discharge reports and in-hospital updates
• Communicate with clients, referring DVMs, and pharmacies regarding appointments, medical concerns, patient updates, referrals, and prescriptions
• Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint, radiography, and lab equipment

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Minimum 1–3 years of veterinary experience
• Basic knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology
• Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with staff and clients
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and follow-through
• Excellent customer service skills and a desire to provide outstanding service
• Ability to handle high-stress situations

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with hourly pay starting at $19–$25/hour. The actual rate will consider your skills, qualifications, and location.
