Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting our veterinarians while helping provide exceptional care to our patients and outstanding service to our clients.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with animals and people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Assist veterinarians and work along with veterinary technicians and assistants to aid in patient care and treatments
Safely restrain dogs, cats, and other small animals/exotics for examinations and procedures
Prepare examination rooms and treatment areas
Obtain patient histories and assist with client communication
Monitor and care for hospitalized patients
Assist with laboratory sample collection and processing
Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical procedures as needed
Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and facilities
Stock supplies and maintain inventory levels
Support reception and client service functions when needed
Maintain accurate patient records and treatment logs
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous veterinary experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Compassion for animals and commitment to patient care
Reliable attendance and punctuality required
Passion for animal care
Comfortable being around dogs, cats and other animals
Comfortable working with computers ad practice management software
Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments
Comfortable working around animals, cleaning chemicals, and medical equipment
Monday–Friday 7:55am - 6:00pm (With a scheduled day off during the week)
Rotating Saturdays 7:55am - 12:00pm
