Job summary

North Laurel Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative team. This hands-on role supports veterinarians and technicians with patient care, clinics, and front desk workflows in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient restraint during exams, treatments, and blood draws.
  • Help ensure the safety and comfort of patients and team members during procedures.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical suites, instruments, and equipment.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in patient status to the medical team.
  • Assist with basic laboratory procedures, including preparing fecal, urine, and blood samples.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, including patient histories, vitals, and treatments.
  • Clean, sanitize, and stock exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels.
  • Greet clients and patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out as needed.
  • Educate clients on basic pet care, preventatives, and post-appointment instructions.
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments.
  • Complete pharmacy refill requests.
  • Process client payments and support front desk workflows
