Overview

Kennesaw Mountain Veterinary Services is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Location: 2500 Cobb Parkway NW, Suite A-4, Kennesaw, GA 30152

Compensation: $16 - $22

Shifts: Full-time, working 4 weekdays with rotation of weekends and holidays. Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 5:30 pm, rotating Saturday shifts from 8-12.

We seek an experienced Veterinary Assistant (non-credentialed veterinary technician) with at least 2 years of clinical experience. Proficiency in dentals, anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, blood draws, radiography, veterinary pharmacology, drug calculations, and metric conversions is required.

Our hospital offers orthopedic surgeries, water treadmill, laser therapy, and ultrasound services. We value our Veterinary Assistants and aim to utilize their full skill set to support our doctors and technicians, including through power scheduling.

Job Summary: The Veterinary Assistant supports the medical team in our animal facility, providing medical care under the direction of a DVM, in accordance with MVP policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Upholding MVP's Core Values and Mission Statement.
  • Assisting with daily clinic duties and cleaning.
  • Providing client care, scheduling, payments, and check-ins.
  • Maintaining accurate medical and client records.
  • Reviewing records and instructions with clients, answering phones courteously.
  • Providing patient care as directed by a DVM.
  • Performing equipment maintenance and clinic upkeep.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a veterinary environment.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to remain patient and calm in stressful situations and medical crises.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, math, and communication skills in English.
  • Confidence around pets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and manipulate objects.
  • Endurance for extended periods on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments with animals and equipment.
  • Exposure to potential hazards and animals.
  • Sufficient ambulatory and visual skills, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.
