Summary of Job Purpose and Function

The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality veterinary care for pets, advocates for pets, educates clients on pet health, and maintains a safe hospital environment.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure high-quality pet care and maximize productivity.
• Communicate effectively with team members to maintain smooth workflow.
• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service, including performing procedures and preparing for others as permitted by state law.
• Educate clients on wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Obtain and document relevant client and pet medical history.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness in all treatment and exam areas.
• Assist with surgical procedures as applicable.
• Utilize technical skills within legal scope and NAVTA guidelines.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $15.19 - $19.41 hourly, depending on experience, skill, education, and location.
