Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred.
  • Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes.
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, administer oral medications, and outpatient procedures.

Job description

Alpine Animal Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of tasks and is interested in building their skills in patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. We are looking for dependable and motivated team members who are comfortable in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple tasks, communicate professionally, and are willing to learn and support the team. This role is a great way to gain hands-on experience while helping provide a positive experience for both patients and clients.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $ 17 - $20 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday and a rotating weekend once a month.
    • After training, you’ll rotate through an ER shift approximately once a week, typically working from 1:00 PM–10:00 PM. The schedule may vary depending on patient needs, and a shift differential is included for these shifts.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 2+years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
    • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, administer oral medications, and outpatient procedures
    • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
    • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment
    • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members

Pay Range
