Job summary

Durham Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and staff in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital. You will assist during exams, restrain animals when needed, stock rooms, sterilize tools, and help maintain patient files while delivering compassionate client service.

This on-site role requires lifting up to 40 lbs, strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Prior customer service experience required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • This position requires regular on-site presence to support patient care and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates professionalism and ability to multitask in a hands-on hospital environment.

Description

Our hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.

The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Assistant helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Veterinary Assistants also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.

  • Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
