Grayling Hospital for Animals in Grayling, MI is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our AAHA-accredited, small animal hospital. You will support doctors and technicians, help with exams, procedures, and client education, and contribute to a collaborative team dedicated to excellent patient care.
We value work-life balance with a Monday–Friday schedule and no weekends. Preferred 1 year of hospital experience, strong communication, and compassion.

We are an AAHA‑accredited, full‑service small animal hospital providing compassionate care to dogs and cats. Our hospital is staffed by three veterinarians and features five exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, recovery area, modern diagnostic equipment, and more.
- Assisting with patient restraint and handling
- Supporting appointments, examinations, and treatments
- Preparing patients for procedures and surgery
- Monitoring and caring for hospitalized and recovering patients
- Maintaining clean, organized treatment and patient care areas
- Communicating with clients and supporting client education
- Assisting with laboratory and diagnostic procedures
- Supporting a positive, collaborative environment for patients, clients, and teammates
Grayling Hospital for Animals offers a variety of services, including:
- Preventive and wellness care
- Vaccinations
- Sick pet examinations
- Digital diagnostics
- Routine and advanced surgical procedures
- Dentistry
- Same‑day urgent care during regular business hours
We use Avimark practice management software.
Our schedule is Monday through Friday, and we are closed on weekends, helping support a healthy work‑life balance.

- Provide Essential Patient Care: You'll be a key player in the health of our patients, assisting the medical team with hands‑on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
- Be the Go‑To Support for the Medical Team: You'll be the backbone of the clinic, anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.
- Create a Positive Client Experience: You'll help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications, always with a courteous and informative approach.
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: You'll take pride in maintaining the hospital, performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
