Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This is a full-time position, but we are open to considering candidates interested in part-time work as well.
Hourly Rate: $18–$24, based on experience
Potential for annual bonus
Supportive, friendly work environment with room to grow
Full-time: Four 10-hour shifts per week
Rotating Saturdays: Every other Saturday required
Business Hours:
Mon–Fri: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Sat: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sun: Closed
We are a 5.5-doctor, AAHA-accredited practice with a commitment to low-stress animal handling and high-quality care. We serve dogs, cats, rabbits, and small rodents, and provide services including:
Soft tissue surgery
Ultrasound
In-house lab diagnostics (Idexx & Abaxis equipment)
AI charting using Scribenote
Practice management software: Impromed
Required:
1–2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital
Proficiency in animal restraint
Experience with blood draws
Ability to room patients: take histories, educate clients on vaccines (core vs. lifestyle), preventive care, and common health concerns
Preferred but Not Required (Training Provided):
Experience with anesthesia monitoring
Warm, team-oriented culture
Close-knit staff who support each other
Open communication encouraged
Recent team-building events (like paint night!)

Mission Veterinary Partners just purchased our own accredited Veterinary Technician College and will be offering online classes to our employees for a degree in Veterinary Technology. We will be offering this program to our employees that wish to grow within the field at a significantly reduced financial cost. After completing the program, you will be able to sit for the VTNE and become a Licensed/Registered/Certified Veterinary Technician.
