Dearborn Family Pet Care is Hiring an Experienced Veterinary Assistant!

Role: Veterinary Assistant
Status: Full-time
Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
Schedule: Five-day work week with every other Thursday off and every other Saturday off. No late nights, Sundays, or holidays. Saturday hours are 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do
  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate nursing care from intake through discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation and recovery
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals while maintaining accurate records
  • Practice Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques
  • Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, preventative care, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate patient records and medical charts
  • Provide patient monitoring and supportive nursing care
  • Maintain clean, organized treatment and exam areas while following infection-control protocols
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain efficient workflow and excellent patient care
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
