Veterinary Assistant

Full-time: 4x10 hour shift with rotating Saturdays

Leon Valley, TX

Covenant Care Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support veterinarians and Technicians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Keeping kennels and the clinic clean and restocked.
  • Restraining patients
  • Nail trims and anal gland expressions.
  • Observe and monitor patients recovering from surgery and report any problems to a tech or doctor
  • Clean and sterilize packs and surgery supplies
  • Remove IV catheters from surgery patients
  • Walk all dogs when needed
  • Assist with the check out process
  • Other tasks as they are assigned


Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience
  • Certified Vet Assistant preferred, not required
  • Team player
  • Great communication skills


About the Hospital

Covenant Care Animal Hospital is a full-service, small animal veterinary hospital on the northwest side of San Antonio.

We are open Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm and Saturday 7:30am-12pm
