North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital in Cornelius, NC, is seeking full-time Veterinary Assistants to join our multi-doctor practice. We offer a 40+ year history, state-of-the-art facility, competitive pay, and a revamped benefits package.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, restraining animals during procedures, maintaining inventory, administering medications under supervision, and providing excellent client service.

Qualifications

• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them when stressed or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required.
• Meet physical demands: lifting and restraining animals up to 40 lbs.
• Familiar with Fear Free techniques.
• Walks or stands for extended periods; work in bent/squatting position.
• Teamplayer who works well with all hospital staff.

• Answer phones and provide customer service.
• Assist clients with their pets.

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital is located beside Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina, which is a quick 20 minute drive to the heart of uptown Charlotte and a short road-trip away from the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway or the Carolina coast.

We are seeking full-time Veterinary Assistants to join our multi-doctor practice.

Job Overview:

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets. Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, reading fecal)
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
• Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
• Feeding/bathing animals
• Answering phones
• Customer service
• Helping clients with their pets

Qualifications:

• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals. Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
• Familiar with Fear Free techniques.
• Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
• Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.

Pay:

Starting at $15 per hour. Pay increases with experience and certifications.
