Job summary

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital in Cornelius, NC is seeking full-time Veterinary Assistants to join our multi-doctor practice. You will assist with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and help with routine diagnostic tests in a state-of-the-art facility.

We offer a competitive salary starting at $15 per hour, a supportive team culture, and a benefits package. Part-time evening and weekend shifts are also available.

Qualifications

• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job; lift 40lbs on own.
• Familiar with Fear Free techniques.
• Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
• Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets. Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, reading fecal)
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
• Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
• Feeding/bathing animals
• Helping clients with their pets

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital is located beside Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina, which is a quick 20 minute drive to the heart of uptown Charlotte and a short road-trip away from the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway or the Carolina coast.
