Adams County Animal Hospital is looking for a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our small‑animal general practice team. We provide wellness care, same‑day sick appointments, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care in a supportive, team‑focused environment.
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and procedures
Safely restrain dogs and cats using compassionate, low‑stress techniques
Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, treatments, and sample collection
Support surgical and dental preparation, monitoring, and recovery
Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and patient‑care areas
Accurately document patient information and communicate with the medical team
Help educate clients about medications, treatments, and follow‑up care
Provide friendly, professional service to clients and their pets
Support teammates and assist with other hospital responsibilities as needed
Veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider motivated candidates with relevant animal‑care experience
Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments
Compassionate, dependable, and attentive to detail
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Able to remain calm and organized in a busy clinical environment
Willing to learn and accept feedback
Able to perform the physical responsibilities of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting or assisting with animals
