Job summary

VCA Madeira Animal Hospital in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis with rotating Saturdays. You will support veterinarians and technicians, help maintain a clean, organized clinic, and ensure compassionate care for our animal patients.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of veterinary experience, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of experience in a veterinary setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Genuine compassion for animals and their owners.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
• Safely restrain animals for treatments and diagnostics.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.
• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces).
• Perform basic diagnostic tests, including radiographs and blood tests.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Educate clients on general animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels.
• Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.
