Job summary

Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical and Wellness Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support surgical and wellness services in Cincinnati, OH. You will prep patients, assist during exams, and help educate pet owners while coordinating with Vets and technicians.

We value teamwork, calm handling of animals, and strong communication in a busy hospital setting. Starting compensation is $16.50+ per hour with opportunities for growth and full benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or similar setting.
• Calm, steady presence with animals and clients.
• Strong communication with clients and teammates.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
• Team-player with willingness to pitch in wherever needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate medical records and answering client questions.
• Prepping patients for exams and surgeries.
• Administering medications as directed.
• Assisting with lab testing including blood, fecal, and urine.
• Cleaning and sanitizing surgical tools, kennels, and exam areas.
• Monitoring post-op patients and reporting changes.
• Safely restraining patients during exams and procedures.
• Educating pet parents on medications, treatments, and care.
• Partnering with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to deliver top-tier care.

Here is what a shift as a Veterinary Assistant at Cincinnati Veterinary Surgical and Wellness Center actually looks like. You start by prepping a patient for surgery, jump in to help restrain during an exam, walk a worried pet parent through their dog's discharge instructions, and somehow make it all look easy. You are not just support staff here. You are the glue that holds the whole hospital together, and we know it.

What You Will Be Doing

• Maintaining accurate medical records and helping answer client questions

Compensation

Starting at $16.50+/hr. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience.
