Job description

VCA Blum Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant for our patient care team!

Compensation: $18 -21/ hr. Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities are available.

Schedule: Four days a week. Shift schedule is 9:30 am - 6:30pm, and every other Saturday from 7:30am -2 :30pm.

Summary: Our Veterinary Assistants support our veterinarians and technicians in all aspects of animal care by restraining our patients during physical exams, treatments, and procedures. They are an advocate of our patients to ensure they receive the proper care in a safe and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities(included but not limited to):

• Assist our veterinarians and technicians in carrying, handling, and restraining animals during physical exams, treatments, and procedures
• Adhere to strict instruction in regards to walking and feeding hospitalized patients
• Assist in the proper protocol for handling humane euthanasia patients
• Assist in accurately filling prescription medications and diets
• Extensive cleaning and maintenance of the hospital, including treatment areas, exam rooms, surgical suite, and reception area
