Uptown Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a full-time Veterinary Assistant

to join our team!

We’re looking for a Veterinary Assistant with 1–2 years of clinical experience who’s eager to grow and learn in a hands-on environment. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a clinic setting, with the chance to take on a variety of responsibilities across different roles.

Clinic hours:

Mon-Fri 8:30am-6:00pm

Sat 8:30am-2pm

Sun Closed

Compensation:

$19-22 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant supports the medical team in the operation of an animal facility following MVP policies and procedures. Provides medical care to patients as permitted by veterinary practice laws.

Responsibilities
  • Uphold MVP's core values and mission statement.
  • Assist with daily clinic care duties.
  • Participate in cleaning duties.
  • Provide client care: scheduling appointments, processing payments, check-ins.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Accurately record medical, client, and case information.
  • Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer phones courteously and informatively.
  • Provide patient care under DVM supervision.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a veterinary environment.
  • Management experience preferred (2+ years).
  • Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  • Patience and composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to remain calm during medical crises.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, math, and language skills (English).
  • Confidence around pets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Endure extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
  • Work in noisy environments with animal and equipment sounds.
  • Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, and to hazards like anesthesia and biological materials.
  • Good ambulatory skills and specific vision abilities.
