Job summary

Cotswold Animal Hospital PLLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a veterinary assistant to support veterinarians and provide care across front desk, exam/treatment, surgery, dentistry, and radiology. You will assist with patient handling, client communication, and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.

• Prepare and assist during surgeries and dental work.

Physical Demands and Essential Functions

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all of the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, and carry items/animals up to 50 pounds, often multiple times per day.
• Mobility & Positioning: Constant standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Handling & Restraint: Physical strength and dexterity to handle, position, and restrain both small and large animals.
• Fine Motor Skills: Fine motor skills for tasks such as surgery, dentistry, injections, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Visual & Audio Acuity: Clear vision (close/distance/peripheral) for reading records and clinical observation, as well as hearing and speaking to communicate with clients and staff.
• Environment: High noise levels and exposure to animal waste, fluids, zoonotic diseases, anesthesia, and radiation.
• Stamina: Ability to work under stress and maintain focus for long or irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
• Allergies: Must be able to manage animal allergies with medication to work in close proximity to pets.
• Reliable Transportation: Ability to commute to Cotswold Animal Hospital Monday-Friday, 35+ hours per week

Education/Experience/Certifications

• 1-2 years in Veterinary Medicine (strongly desired but not required)
• Certification in Veterinary Assistant (strongly desired but not required)

Compensation and Benefits

• $ 19.00+ per hour based on experience
