Job summary

Groveway Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a collaborative team focused on high-quality care for companion animals. You will support veterinarians, prep exam rooms, obtain histories, and educate clients in a busy general practice.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of veterinary experience or is pursuing a Veterinary Technician program, with a strong customer-service mindset and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice, or currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician program.
• Ability to obtain thorough medical histories from clients and explain care plans clearly.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced general practice with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain thorough medical histories from pet owners.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments and assist veterinarians during examinations.
• Provide routine patient care, administer vaccines, and restrain patients for exams.
• Collect laboratory samples, perform blood draws, run in-house diagnostics, and prepare samples for outside labs.
• Educate clients on medications, preventive care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely documentation of patient care.
• Clean, stock, and organize exam rooms and treatment areas to support daily hospital operations.
• Support a variable caseload depending on seasonal demand while maintaining efficient workflow.
• Assist with scheduling, client check-in/check-out, answering phones, and other duties as assigned.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice, or currently enrolled in a Veterinary Technician program
