Qualifications

  • Technical skills in surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, venipuncture, restraint techniques, anesthesia, and surgical assistance.
  • Ability to handle dogs, cats, and exotic animals.
  • Knowledge of basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring for distress or illness.
  • Knowledge of common medical procedures, including administering medications, wound care, and assisting with diagnostic tests.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
  • Ability to learn EMR and scheduling software systems.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, empathetic, compassionate, and approachable skills.
  • Adherence to OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Availability for 10+ hour shifts, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to work onsite; remote work is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing veterinary care
  • Ensure the well-being of pets and educate clients
  • Perform or assist with surgery, dentistry, laboratory procedures, venipuncture, anesthesia, surgical assistance, and diagnostic tests
  • Contribute to the day-to-day efficiency and smooth operation of the hospital
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical charts and meet hospital quality-control standards
  • Educate clients about Wellness Plans, pet care, and overall health
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and facilitate patient intake and discharge
  • Obtain medical histories and patient information
  • Track and restock hospital supplies
  • Complete assigned hospital duties before the end of each shift
  • Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional customer service
  • Adapt to client needs and resolve complaints as appropriate
  • Adhere to OSHA standards and perform other assigned duties
