Bondurant Animal Clinic in Bondurant, IA, is seeking a veterinary assistant to join our fast-paced, multi-doctor small animal practice. The position primarily serves the Bondurant location with occasional coverage at the Newton clinic, performing restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, and nursing for medical and hospitalized cases.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience as veterinary assistant preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player and strong communicator.
• Able to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, histories, lab tests, radiographs or anesthesia monitoring bonus.
• Self-starter eager to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples.
• Perform diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans.
• Assist with surgery prep and anesthesia management.

Job description

Bondurant Animal Clinic is a well-established, progressive, fast paced multi-doctor general small animal practices located in Bondurant, Iowa with a sister clinic in Newton, IA. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High Speed Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body and dental radiology, Endoscopy and Ultrasonography. We are proud to be able to say that both of our hospitals are AAHA certified.

*The position will primarily be based at our Bondurant location, with the flexibility to work at our Newton location as needed*

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
